Christmas lights at Gaylord Opryland Hotel, Nashville, Tennessee

Christmas lights inside the Gaylord Opryland Hotel
Whenever family and friends visit us in Tennessee, we almost always take them to Nashville, and one of our favorite stops is the Gaylord Opryland Hotel. The nine-acres of jaw-dropping indoor gardens with 50,000 tropical plants and trees, along with waterfalls and cascades, restaurants and retail stores, never fail to impress us or our visitors. If walking the nine-acre complex is too much, you can opt for a Mississippi-style flatboat ride on the river that meanders around the resort.

In mid-November, the hotel comes alive for its annual "A Country Christmas" event. It is decorated with millions of twinkling lights, and there are dozens of things to do, from holiday shows, ice skating, ice tubing to horse-drawn carriage rides. Travel Channel's Extreme Christmas show had touted the Gaylord Opryland Hotel to be "the most Christmassy hotel in the U.S." We have visited many times to see the incredible Christmas light display, and here are some of the pictures we have taken.

  1. I'm sorry the whole shebang was a disappointment but I'm not surprised. I was there years and years ago and it wasn't so great then! Hope your holidays get better and better.

No more snow but a LOT of photos to show!

  2. Virginia,
Thank you for visiting my blog. I really enjoy yours. Your beautiful pictures of Birmingham and Paris are excellent!

I love the Opryland Hotel during the day when I can see the lush gardens. I just expected more festivities for the Christmas season. Have you been to Franklin? They have an old-fashioned Victorian holiday festival next week - Dickens of a Christmas. Sounds like fun!
